Henchies cannot get across unless:

1) you lower the bridge, then they can walk across
2) you agro monsters from somewhere and have them kill your henchies. Then you kill the monster on the otherside of the ravine, transverse, then rebirth them over to your end.

Heros however, are a bit easier. Disable self healing and equip them with vampiric weapons. You traverse over the ravine, then rebirth them.

Under guildwiki it says something about it being an unknown bug I think. If you unflag your henchies they will somehow "teleport" across. Same thing happened for me when I did the bonus a few days ago.

This is a hidden feature (also known as bug).
Genetic is right, if you flag them out of radar range and you remove the flag, they will come running to you.
I used this in Dunes to get my hench over (had NC on heroes).
And it happened in Frost Gate (exploration of Rurik's path)

I also experienced a very useful bug there. My henchies were insude while I teleported to the outside with necrotic traversal. The bridges were still up.

I went ahead cartographing some area's until I got killed by a group of those pesky little sand monsters. After waiting for some time, I was surprised to see the nechies come for me. They somehow teleported to the outside area and came to rezz me. Itfinally allowed me to map all area and do the bonus as well, with no timer and a full party of hench.

Happened to me once. Could someone please explain exactly how the exploit works?

I mean, while tempted to abuse it, it has harmed me once or twice, too. Sometimes you want to keep a live henchman on the way back.
